National Park Plitvice Lakes
Visit National Park Plitvice Lakes and enjoy one of the most beautiful natural phenomena in the world. The 16 lakes, connected by 92 waterfalls, cascade through the picturesque surrounding. Plitvice Lakes were declared a national park in 1949, and since 1979, they have been on UNESCO’s List of World Natural Heritage.
The unique beauty of the National Park Plitvice Lakes lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars, and rare bird species. The National Park covers a total area of 300 square kilometers and the lakes join together over a distance of 8 kilometers.
Plitvice Lakes aren’t just a summer destination, it is a great place to visit at any time of year. There are two entrances to the National Park Plitvice Lakes: Entrance 1, opened all year round, for the lower lakes and Entrance 2, closed in the winter, for the higher lakes
There are several walking trails of different durations mapped out from the entrance and they all include a boat ride and an electric train. The walking trails are clearly marked making it easy to get around and impossible to get lost.
